Event: The Pursuit Art Gallery traveled to Gonzales, Trinidad and setup a free photography program with over 20 marginalized youth in February 2008. This workshop documented the Carnival, the youth, their community and culture through hope and empowerment. Also view additional video clips from youth in Calgary from Holy Cross School and St. Mark’s Church from a program called Trinity Art. Presented in partnership with the Calgary Public Library and the Pursuit Art Gallery.

Celebrate culture and diversity with images from Trinidad and Calgary that were taken by youth! The Trinity Art program for marginalized youth was successfully launched in Gonzales, Trinidad in 2009 and in Calgary, at Holy Cross Junior High in 2010. Over 40 youth explored themes of faith, love and hope through the arts. Vincent T Joachim, Karina Ramdath and Kadane Headley of the Pursuit Art Gallery, empowered the youth by teaching them photography, video, popular theatre and leadership skills. In the program, the participants used art as a tool to investigate social justice topics that affect their community and their daily lives. The stories the youth created are thought provoking that will lift their community and their spirits to new heights.
Doors open at 6pm – 9pm for interpreted view and artist entertainment. We have a suggested donation of $10 or a new/used digital camera for the youth. The Pursuit Art Gallery is a non-profit organization and all proceeds go back to the program for the youth.

Vincent T Joachim explores the world around us and showcases mother natures science through photography. Over 20 pictures will be on display at the Creative Kids Museum. Vincent will also be having to spring break workshops teaching the youth ages 9-12 how to make a pin hole camera.
